People
Education: Working with the people, to save the planet.
At Bywaters, we are committed to fostering environmental stewardship through education.
Education is the cornerstone of developing the knowledge and skills needed to build a more sustainable future. This is precisely why we have delivered 194 educational programmes to various clients across London, which has empowered over 3,034 individuals. Our initiatives range from webinars and interactive workshops to Waste Awareness Days and collaborative partnerships with some of London’s most innovative organisations. We take pride in our collaborations with schools, colleges, and universities, where we strive to nurture young minds towards a greener future. Bywaters is dedicated to building a better world, and for us, education is critical in achieving that goal.
Progress: How today’s technology is saving tomorrow!
At Bywaters, we are committed to reducing our environmental impact and maximising efficiency through innovative solutions.
Our state-of-the-art 20,000 litre water tank enables us to collect and harvest rainwater on site, helping to conserve water and reduce waste. Additionally, we have introduced POD compactors at several of our sites, a miniature compaction unit that can compress four tonnes of waste, equal to 24-30 1100L bin containers. Recently, we partnered with ReLearn to offer clients a sophisticated waste management solution using 200 sensors fitted onto existing bins. These sensors monitor the materials disposed of in each waste stream, providing valuable information on waste production and resulting in detailed daily reports generated through NANDO- a tool that analyses waste production, quality, and quantity. Through these initiatives, we are proud to offer efficient, sustainable waste management solutions while supporting our clients’ environmental goals.
Big Belly bins have been installed, each consisting of a self-compacting general waste unit and a standard Dry Mixed Recyclable unit, powered entirely by solar energy. This advanced waste management system offers an effective and efficient solution to waste management. These bins can hold a greater capacity than standard bins, reducing the frequency of collections and ultimately, carbon emissions.
Planet
To protect the environment, we have formed partnerships with esteemed organisations such as ‘Born-Free’ and ‘Trees for City.’ These alliances have enabled us to contribute meaningfully towards animal conservation and urban forestry. Apart from these established programs, we have also spearheaded our own initiatives, organising numerous litter picks and clothing donations. At our core, we believe everyone has a stake in safeguarding our planet, and we remain committed to achieving our shared vision of a sustainable world.
Partnership with Born Free
Bywaters is excited to announce our partnership with Born Free, the distinguished animal conservation charity. Our shared commitment to preserving and protecting the world’s most precious animals makes this alliance so significant. In support of this cause, we have redesigned several of our signature vehicles to feature five endangered species that Born Free is dedicated to safeguarding: the Tiger, Amur Leopard, Hawksbill Turtle, Zebra and Giraffe. Through this partnership, we aim to raise awareness about the importance of conservation efforts and the need for sustainable practices.
A glimpse of 2024
Our commitment to sustainability has also been a top priority, with plans to reduce transport emissions for our clients already in motion. Looking ahead to 2024, we are thrilled to announce the launch of our Women Mentoring Programme and our collaboration with Switchback, which we believe will greatly benefit the community. As an organisation, we are committed to using our platform, BRAD 2.0, to showcase our progress and the steps we will take to ensure a brighter and more sustainable future. We are excited to see what the future holds and look forward to continuing our commitment to social and environmental responsibility.
This report reflects our efforts to make positive changes for the environment, and we are delighted to share our accomplishments with you. With a resolve to continue building a sustainable future, we look forward to the challenges and opportunities 2024 will bring.
As we draw to a close in 2023, we feel it necessary to extend our sincerest gratitude to each and every one of you who have supported us throughout this year. Your unwavering support and encouragement have motivated us to push harder, strive higher, and dream bigger. As we move forward into the coming year, we eagerly anticipate the opportunity to update you with the progress we’ve made towards our sustainability goals.
